(Dragging and dropping files in this Windows 7 guest is ok. However, when I revert from Guest Additions 4.1.2 back to Guest Additions 4.0.12, mousing over the iDrive utility no longer freezes the guest and everything works fine. I tried changing many VM settings, one at a time, and nothing prevents the freezing of the guest upon mousing over the application. Leaving the utility running without mousing over it does not invoke the freeze. Problem = I can 100% consistently freeze the Windows 7 64bit guest as soon as I mouse over the iDrive utility (version 3.4.1, free download). VirtualBox = 4.1.2 with current Guest Additions and Oracle Extensions, 2048 MB memory, 2 CPU, 2D video, no 3D video, a single Bridged network adapter mapped to the ethernet NIC, no host filesharing, bidirectional clipboard enabled, no special software or drivers installed. Click on Drag’n’Drop dropdown and change it’s setting to Bidirectional.
In the General section of Settings, click on Advanced tab of settings. When Machine is powered off, Click on Settings button of Virtual Machine from VirtualBox Application. Problem = Trying to drag and drop files in Windows caused the Guest to freeze requiring a manual powerdown via the VBox console. We can enable Drag’n’Drop feature in VirtualBox by following simple steps below. This is a simple Guest definition: 1024 MB memory, 1 CPU, no 2D or 3D video enabled, a single Bridged network adapter, no host filesharing, bidirectional clipboard enabled, no special software or drivers installed. VirtualBox = 4.1.2 with current Guest Additions and Oracle Extensions 2 additional observations of this bug in WinXP-64bit and Win7-64bit guests:
